The Lighthouse That Went Dark
Capucine was spending her holidays in a little house by the sea. Every night, from her bed, she watched the old lighthouse sweep the darkness with its beautiful golden light. But that night, the lighthouse was completely dark.
Capucine went down to the beach, where the waves come to whisper secrets to the sand. The lighthouse door was ajar. Inside, a spiral staircase climbed up, and up, and up.
At the very top, she found an old lady with a shawl the colour of sea foam and seashell spectacles: Granny Lou, the lighthouse keeper. She was standing in front of an enormous glass lantern, filled with a thousand tiny fireflies… all fast asleep.
"It's a catastrophe, my dear," Granny Lou murmured. "This lighthouse doesn't guide fishing boats, oh no. It guides the dream boats. Every night, they sail across the sea to bring their dreams to sleeping children. Without the light… they will never find the harbour."
